  Lettuce
Lettuce Bhaja

Turmeric  

A fried lettuce dish suitable for vegetarians and served as a
main meal or a side dish.


Ingredients
Lettuce
1/2
Lettuce
Plain flour
1 cup
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Turmeric
1/4 teaspoon
Chilli powder
1/4 teaspoon
Jeera (Cumin)
2 teaspoons
Water
1/2 teacup
Salt
1/4 teaspoon
Oil
1 teaspoon
 


Method
Chop the lettuce leaves into small pieces. The cut lettuce should then be mixed with one cup of flour. Add the turmeric, and chilli powder and salt. Add water and mix all ingredients until there is a thick consistency. Ensure that this is mixed evenly.

Place a medium sized frying pan on the cooker at medium heat. Place one teaspoon of oil in the fyring pan. Heat this oil in the frying pan until it is quite hot. Take a tablespoon of the lettuce mixture and fry this until it is brown in colour. Place a piece of kitchen roll on a plate and then place the lettuce bhaja onto this plate to drain the excess oil,

Serving Suggestion
This is best served with rice as a main meal or can be added as a side dish. It can also be eaten with salad.
